had to work a lot harder to defy a penalty for last week's victory and complete the 5-timer, doing well considering the softer ground probably didn't suit, also hinting that a busy spell was catching up with him, not travelling with anything like the same fluency as for his previous wins, the resolve he had to display to win this only enhancing his reputation and he's very much one to be positive about for next year; mid-field, ridden over 3f out, headway when switched into centre of track 1f out, stayed on to lead inside final 1f, dug deep under pressure.

stepped up on recent run with a good effort from an attractive mark, clearly now over whatever caused him to miss the end of the summer, resuming his progress up against a thriving sort here; mid-field, travelled fluently, headway over 1f out, challenged final 1f, kept on; will remain of interest.

Plenty to like about the first 2, both unexposed and getting the better of a course specialist in third, the winner needing to display different qualities than previously to complete the 5-timer under a penalty and is very much one to be interested in for next year.

RAASEL had to work a lot harder to defy a penalty for last week's victory and complete the 5-timer, doing well considering the softer ground probably didn't suit, also hinting that a busy spell was catching up with him, not travelling with anything like the same fluency as for his previous wins, the resolve he had to display to win this only enhancing his reputation and he's very much one to be positive about for next year; mid-field, ridden over 3f out, headway when switched into centre of track 1f out, stayed on to lead inside final 1f, dug deep under pressure.

WRENTHORPE claimer ridden, ran respectably up against a couple of much less-exposed sorts after just 7 days off; prominent, led 2f out, headed final 1f, no extra late on.

PENDLETON in a change of headgear, ran better than last time, albeit getting going too late back down in trip; in rear, ridden when short of room 2f out, kept on, nearest at the finish.

DARK SHOT after just 7 days off, found run of good form coming to a halt; led until 2f out, no extra final 1f.

ILLUSIONIST (GER) again ran below form; raced wide, in rear, went with little fluency, made little impression.

RAYONG had been shaping well but ran poorly; in touch, ridden 2f out, weakened final 1f.

ROLFE REMBRANDT back down in trip, again ran poorly; in touch, ridden over 2f out, weakened.
