had the cheekpieces replacing the hood and it duly sparked him back into life, showing that the ability is still there and that his time isn't up just yet, clearly still at least capable of useful form; mid-field, travelled well, headway over 1f out, stayed on to lead final 1f, kept going well.

hasn't really got going yet this year and found the drop in trip in first-time cheekpieces against him, running on late having been outpaced; in rear, headway over 1f out, kept on, needs the emphasis more on stamina; will prove suited by a return to 6f.

A useful minor event which was run at an honest pace courtesy of Thesme and the veteran winner always looked to be going well in behind, rolling back the years to assert in the final 1f.

KINGSGATE NATIVE (IRE) had the cheekpieces replacing the hood and it duly sparked him back into life, showing that the ability is still there and that his time isn't up just yet, clearly still at least capable of useful form; mid-field, travelled well, headway over 1f out, stayed on to lead final 1f, kept going well.

THESME ran creditably away from handicap company, typically moving through the race in great style and she deserves a win to top off what has otherwise been an excellent summer; led, went with zest, headed final 1f, kept on.

STRATH BURN hasn't really got going yet this year and found the drop in trip in first-time cheekpieces against him, running on late having been outpaced; in rear, headway over 1f out, kept on, needs the emphasis more on stamina; will prove suited by a return to 6f.

MALJAA was in a less competitive affair but again ran below his best form; dived left leaving stalls, mid-field, headway out wide over 1f out, no extra last ½f.

ORNATE fared better than of late in first-time hood but had every chance and leaves the impression he's not going to be easy to place; mid-field, ridden over 1f out, not quicken.

HAY CHEWED (IRE) followed a below-par effort with an even worse one; prominent, weakened final 1f.

DESERT LAW (IRE) ran poorly; prominent, ridden when hampered over 1f out, weakened.

KING OF ROOKS fared no better back down in trip in first-time hood; outpaced, always behind.
