Two fillies proven at Group 1 level faced a pair that were most progressive but stepping up in grade, the quartet filling the frame, though only the runner-up made much of a race of it with the dominant winner, who galloped her rivals into the ground, showing improved form and running to a level well up to standard for the race; the field raced as 2 groups initially, coming together under 3f out, the near-side group labouring by that point, the whole field drifting to the rail as the first 2 hung left, and unsurprisingly given the strong tailwind, it proved an advantage to be handy.

FALLEN ANGEL looked better than ever in completing a Group 1 hat-trick and fifth win overall at this level, all in races confined to her own sex, the performance a dominant one but likely to prove her crowning glory under conditions that favoured front runners; raced far side, led, joined under 3f out, shaken up soon after, hung left, drew clear final 1f, kept on well; she is likely to take her chance in the QEII, but that will surely be a markedly stronger field (well beaten only Group 1 start in open company), whilst her usual tactics are highly unlikely to show her to such good effect on Ascot's stiff mile.

BLUE BOLT (IRE) progressed again, up in grade, turning the tables on Lady of Spain from Sandown away from testing ground, the only threat to the winner in the last 2f; raced far side, tracked pace, upsides under 3f out, ridden soon after, hung left over 2f out, rider briefly dropped rein soon after, left behind by winner inside final 1f; she was better placed than most the way this went, but is a well-made filly with a progressive and lightly-raced profile, so appeals as the type who could do better still and make the breakthrough at this level if kept in training at 4 yrs.

CINDERELLA'S DREAM had leading claims on form and ran below expectations, not helped by racing on a different part of the track to the pair who beat her, or by coming from further back, but essentially just turning in a lacklustre display; raced near side, waited with, not travel with usual fluency and outpaced over 3f out, wandered 2f out, plugged on final 1f, took third late on.

LADY OF SPAIN (IRE) lost her unbeaten record, running some way below the level she showed last time (when beating the runner-up), possibly racing in the other group to the first 2 a disadvantage, also the ground last time much softer than it was here; raced near side, in touch, shaken up over 2f out, not quicken, disputed third final 1f, no extra final 100 yds; her overall profile is a really positive one and she's likely to bounce back before long.

CATHEDRAL beaten under 2 lengths by the winner in the Matron, wasn't in the same form, hindered by the decision to revert to more patient tactics but just turning in a flat display in truth; raced far side, held up, left behind 3f out.

ATSILA (IRE) had been beaten less than 2 lengths by the winner in the Matron, but she wasn't in the same form this time, another slow start leaving her poorly placed in a race where it was hard to get involved from out the back; raced near side, in rear, shaken up halfway, headway over 2f out, weakened final 1f; she was contesting her fifth successive Group 1 and will need her sights lowering if she's to regain the winning thread.

CHESHIRE DANCER (IRE) faced a stiff task in this grade and ran a fair way below form; raced near side, tracked pace, labouring 3f out.

SPIRITUAL (IRE) was well held, as she had been on her previous attempt at this level; raced near side, led group (prominent overall), shaken up 3f out, weakened 2f out.

SAQQARA SANDS has been most progressive this year, but failed to give her running; raced far side, chased leader, left behind 3f out.
