The second of the major British trials for the Guineas, 6 of the 10 entered here next month, though 7 of the 10 were having their first run out of novice/maiden company and a few looked to be on the hunt for black type as much as anything; as with the Fred Darling the race fell to one not entered in the Guineas, and unlike the Newbury winner, Zanzoun seems unlikely to be supplemented, her winning performance around standard for the race; the field raced up the centre, excepting the third who raced solo, more towards the stand side.

ZANZOUN had taken 3 goes to get off the mark at 2 yrs and beforehand looked a well-bred filly sent in search of some black type, but she was seen in a different light afterwards, showing much improved form in winning this trial in stylish fashion, not entered in the Guineas and very likely to take her chance in the Pouliches instead; waited with, took keen hold, smooth headway 2f out, quickened to lead 1f out, shaken up after, drew clear final 100 yds; too free when tried last year, this suggests she should stay 1m now and she is open to further improvement.

CELESTIAL ORBIT absent since winning a listed event at Sandown last summer, was sweating and on her toes beforehand, but she ran at least as well as previously and with her sure to stay an extra 1f, she seems likely to take her chance in a Guineas, more needed there, however; dived right start, held up, effort under 2f out, challenged 1f out, hung left, kept on.

REMAAT like the runner-up, went missing in the second half of last year (kept off the track with a knee problem), but she looked well forward and showed improved form for a stable that's red hot at the moment; raced wide, handy, travelled well, shaken up under 2f out, ridden final 1f, kept on; she's on the small side and may not have much more to offer, though she is likely to stay 1m, which may encourage connections to tilt at the Guineas.

ARABIAN DUSK easily the most highly tried of these at 2 yrs, set a good standard for the unexposed runners to aim at but she wasn't at her best, leaving the impression she didn't stay the extra 1f, out of a winner at 1m+ but by a strong speed influence; broke well, led early, remained prominent, led 2f out, shaken up over 1f out, headed soon after, no extra final 100 yds; she looks to retain plenty of ability and will likely be back to form before long.

NARDRA (IRE) was short on experience, having won just a 4-runner novice, and she couldn't improve on that form, though she shaped with promise and will leave this behind in due course; held up, shaken up 2f out, challenging when hampered 1f out, not quicken inside final 1f; will stay 1m.

BINIORELLA BAY looked relatively exposed and not up to the task, so she ran about as well as could be expected, though soon done with once the tempo lifted; tracked pace, took keen hold, disputed lead 2f out, shaken up after, lost place quickly.

VERSE OF LOVE looked to have done well physically since last autumn, but she ran below expectations, still in need of experience, none of the stable's runners in trial races here and at Newbury coming up to scratch; held up, not settle fully, shaken up 2f out, ran green, left behind final 1f; remains open to improvement.

CARTWHEEL off 6 months, was taking a big step up in class and ran about as well as could have been expected, despite once again racing more keenly than ideal; prominent, not settle fully, shaken up over 2f out, lost place soon after.

SAGUARO BLOSSOM (IRE) would have been better off in the maiden later on the card, in theory her performance likely to have seen her go close in that but just outclassed here; soon led, took keen hold, shaken up over 2f out, headed soon after, weakened.

QARLYGA (FR) was well held, down in trip and up in grade, even keener than she had been at Kempton and in danger of going the wrong way; in touch, refused to settle, bumped soon after start, shaken up over 2f out, dropped away soon after.
