A long-established Group 3 which attracted the largest field this century, double figures lining up for the first time since 2006, though it was a field more about potential than established form, just the Solario runner-up Inishfallen representing pattern-race form, most having plenty to find for an average running; the field grouped towards the stand rail, the pace an even one, high-drawn horses taking 3 of the first 4 places, though neither of the first 2 made their move near the rail, the form shown by the winner a little below the level of the best recent winners, though with potential to go on again, set to bid for the rare double of winning this race and the Dewhurst, not achieved since Milk It Mick did so in 2003.

ALYANAABI (IRE) progressed again after 9 weeks off, following the second and fifth (both listed winners next time out) in boosting the form of Rosallion's race at Ascot, doing really well to get up after his effort was delayed later than absolutely ideal, signs that he wasn't entirely at ease on the track; held up, went with zest, effort over 1f out, looked a little awkward on track, headway well inside final 1f, quickened to lead post; will go on improving and won't be out of place in the Dewhurst, his likely next outing and a race his sire Too Darn Hot won in 2018.

BOILING POINT (IRE) on firmer ground than previously, up in grade, showed much improved form, having taken a while to find his feet in maiden/novice company, starting to look more mature; in touch, took keen hold, shaken up over 2f out, not quicken, headway to lead inside final 1f, kept on, headed post.

EBEN SHADDAD (USA) progressed as expected, though, over an extra 1f, he looked more speed than stamina at this stage (his physique suggesting as much as well), perhaps a return to shorter on the cards; tracked pace, travelled smoothly, shaken up 2f out, challenged 1f out, no extra well inside final 1f; sure to progress again.

MILITARY over 1f longer trip, up in grade, built on debut promise, likely there is plenty more to come, very much the type to make a better 3-y-o on looks; close up, travelled well, pushed along over 2f out, led briefly 1f out, not quicken last ½f; sure to progress.

LEGEND OF TIME up in grade, built on debut promise, even though he didn't look at ease on the track and he wasn't ideally served by the drop back to 7f; in touch, shaken up 2f out, looked awkward, not quicken final 1f; will benefit from return to 1m; open to further improvement.

INISHFALLEN (IRE) ran to a similar level as last time, less obviously having the run of things, even though he again set the pace; prominent, took keen hold, led after 2f, shaken up 2f out, headed 1f out, no extra last ½f.

SON OF MAN (IRE) over 1f longer trip, up in grade, improved on debut form after just 9 days off, though still in need of experience; slowly into stride, raced off the pace, ran green, shaken up before halfway, kept on final 1f, never on terms; may do better still.

CHANGE FOR GOOD (IRE) had a lot to find at this level on just his second start and was much improved from debut, though without ever looking likely to get seriously involved; soon behind, shaken up over 2f out, headway inside final 1f, ran on, nearest at the finish.

ZABRISKIE POINT ran respectably, slightly more exposed than most of these and just found out in better company; led 2f, remained prominent, ridden 2f out, weakened final 1f.

WORLD OF DARCY (IRE) on first outing since leaving Karl Burke for 26,000 gns, was flying too high in this grade, raced at 5f previously and not sure to stay 7f, though that wasn't the issue here; raced off the pace, shaken up halfway, left behind over 1f out.

CROSS THE TRACKS after just 9 days off and over 1f longer trip, was flying too high in this grade, still in need of experience and not really at home on the track; held up, shaken up 2f out, ran green, hung right, no extra.

VICTORY SHOUT (FR) on his toes beforehand, was found out in better company; handy, shaken up over 2f out, weakened over 1f out.
