is really starting to fulfil the promise of her early races and turned the tables on the second and third from Royal Ascot, as well as the fifth from York, value for more than her winning margin over the next pair home after she had to wait to make her move, manoeuvred out in the nick of time and picking up really well once in the clear, going one better in the race than her dam; waited with, travelled well, short of room 2f out, had to pick way through over 1f out, shaken up, quickened to lead close home; she's the sort to go on improving, physically such an imposing filly, and will be at least as effective over further, the Nassau a tempting option next.

ran up to her best, though with no excuses, another race in her at this level, her entries suggesting a chance that she'll be tried over further, though that would less obviously suit her than it would the winner, the Matron perhaps the main aim; prominent, shaken up over 2f out, challenged approaching final 1f, every chance close home, kept on.

back on firmer ground, was unable to confirm the form from Royal Ascot, though she was probably seen to maximum effect under a well-thought-out ride, taken to the rail and controlling the pace, significant that there was more traffic problems than there had been in any other race at the meeting to this point (most of the others either away from the rail or with the field more spread out); led, travelled well, shaken up 2f out, kept on final 1f, headed close home.

ran a fine race, the only one to uphold the honour of the older fillies, a race at this level within her grasp if everything falls right, which it didn't here, likely to have been second with a trouble-free run; held up, effort when short of room 2f out, switched over 1f out, kept on well final 1f, nearest at the finish.

who had missed the Coronation Stakes due to the soft ground, shaped with plenty of promise for good targets ahead, better than the result after meeting trouble as she made her move, though the winner and fourth also met some trouble too; held up, took keen hold, smooth headway 2f out, effort when hampered over 1f out, kept on inside final 1f, nearest at the finish; will continue to give good account.

lost her unbeaten record, but ran really well upped significantly in grade, tried at 1m for the first time; close up, shaken up over 2f out, not quicken inside final 1f; she was sent off at a big price, but clearly justified her place in the field and should be given full credit for her effort.

The largest field for the Falmouth since the race was upgraded to Group 1 in 2004 and a race fully worthy of the status, featuring the first 5 home in the Duke of Cambridge and 4 of the first 5 in the Coronation Stakes, the 3-y-os from the latter race coming out on top, albeit with the first 3 at Ascot in a different order; there's an argument that the fourth and fifth were unlucky, a cute ride from Murphy on Alcohol Free meaning the field gathered towards the far rail and space was at a premium, though the winner had to bide her time as well and is highly likely to be the highest rated of these by year's end, the field in an intriguing race finishing rather too bunched up to take a punchy view of the form, which means she isn't ahead of the pack to any great extent in terms of figures just yet.

SNOW LANTERN is really starting to fulfil the promise of her early races and turned the tables on the second and third from Royal Ascot, as well as the fifth from York, value for more than her winning margin over the next pair home after she had to wait to make her move, manoeuvred out in the nick of time and picking up really well once in the clear, going one better in the race than her dam; waited with, travelled well, short of room 2f out, had to pick way through over 1f out, shaken up, quickened to lead close home; she's the sort to go on improving, physically such an imposing filly, and will be at least as effective over further, the Nassau a tempting option next.

ALCOHOL FREE (IRE) back on firmer ground, was unable to confirm the form from Royal Ascot, though she was probably seen to maximum effect under a well-thought-out ride, taken to the rail and controlling the pace, significant that there was more traffic problems than there had been in any other race at the meeting to this point (most of the others either away from the rail or with the field more spread out); led, travelled well, shaken up 2f out, kept on final 1f, headed close home.

LADY BOWTHORPE ran a fine race, the only one to uphold the honour of the older fillies, a race at this level within her grasp if everything falls right, which it didn't here, likely to have been second with a trouble-free run; held up, effort when short of room 2f out, switched over 1f out, kept on well final 1f, nearest at the finish.

JUST BEAUTIFUL lost her unbeaten record, but ran really well upped significantly in grade, tried at 1m for the first time; close up, shaken up over 2f out, not quicken inside final 1f; she was sent off at a big price, but clearly justified her place in the field and should be given full credit for her effort.

PRETTY GORGEOUS (FR) took a step forward this time, working her way back to the level of her 2-y-o form, though she was well positioned and had no excuses on the day; prominent, travelled well, ridden under 2f out, not quicken final 1f.

LAVENDER'S BLUE (IRE) again in cheekpieces, was below form, losing ground late on as she struggled with the track; in touch, shaken up 2f out, hung left, weakened inside final 1f.

INDIE ANGEL (IRE) failed to confirm previous form, everything having gone perfectly for her at Royal Ascot; held up, pushed along over 2f out, made no impression.
