had missed the cut for the Buckingham Palace at Royal Ascot last week, but surely has one of the valuable handicaps firmly on his horizon, perhaps at this trip, but definitely at 1m, pulling this out the fire in the style of one with plenty more to come; mid-field, pushed along around halfway, shuffled back over 2f out, headway 1f out, found plenty to lead final strides; will go on improving and is one to follow.

back on turf after 5 weeks off, got firmly back on track, doing well under the circumstances; awkward leaving stalls, patiently ridden, going well when short of room over 1f out, had to weave way through, took second close home, finished with running left; he's the best part of a stone lower in the weights since first switched to handicaps and is very much one to be interested in again now.

bounced back to form and was unlucky not to finish closer having been squeezed for room against the rail in the closing stages; mid-field, effort 2f out, keeping on when hampered approaching final 100 yds, not recover; he's only 2 lb higher than when winning at Ascot in April.

A useful level, but hard to see it as strong form given the bunched finish, just over 2½ lengths covering the first 7, so it's a case of picking out the potential, which is straightforward enough, Ametist value for plenty extra while the runner-up himself would have been further clear of the third too with a clear run, Keyser Soze the other one who can be upgraded after meeting trouble.

AMETIST had missed the cut for the Buckingham Palace at Royal Ascot last week, but surely has one of the valuable handicaps firmly on his horizon, perhaps at this trip, but definitely at 1m, pulling this out the fire in the style of one with plenty more to come; mid-field, pushed along around halfway, shuffled back over 2f out, headway 1f out, found plenty to lead final strides; will go on improving and is one to follow.
