looked the form pick in an average field, placed in Group/Grade 1 company on her final 2 starts at 2 yrs, and she didn't need to improve on those efforts to run out a convincing winner on her return, coping well with firmer going, coming from further off the pace than the trio that chased her home, the decisive moment coming soon after 2f out; held up, good headway over 2f out, led soon after, in command 1f out, ran on; she's entered in the Oaks, but the fourth is a much more obvious candidate for that and a bid for a Guineas double at the Curragh seems the likely course.

progressed again, seeing out the extra 1f well after the winner had gone beyond recall; prominent, shaken up over 2f out, not quicken soon after, kept on final 1f, no impression on winner; she leaves the impression she'll stay 1¼m, though her Oaks entry suggests connections have some hope she will stay even further, which wouldn't be sure on pedigree.

in first-time cheekpieces, proved better than ever, a fine effort in the circumstances, having raced choke out for much of the way, though she couldn't have looked any fitter and she wouldn't necessarily come on for the run; disputed lead, raced freely, shaken up 3f out, not quicken under 2f out, kept on final 1f.

uneasy in the market, though sent off joint-favourite, despite just one run in a maiden to her name, showed herself a smart filly, not knowing enough at this stage to make a bigger impact, but sure to have learnt plenty and likely to make a bigger impact with this under her belt, sure to be suited by stepping up to middle distances; prominent, took keen hold, pushed along over 2f out, ran green, not quicken, kept on final 1f; will be suited by 1¼m+; she's a big, strong, attractive filly, a standout in this field on looks and she's sure to progress, with the Oaks obviously on the agenda.

hadn't seemed sure to stay 1m and holds an entry in the Commonwealth Cup, but she saw the trip out well enough despite taking a strong hold in the early stages, running creditably and seemingly beaten on merit; held up, effort over 2f out, kept on final 1f, never a threat.

ran well upped in grade, though she didn't seem to see the trip out fully and might have done even better at 7f, still with potential after just 3 runs; in rear, travelled well, headway 2f out, shaken up over 1f out, no extra inside final 1f; will benefit from return to short of 1m.

ran respectably, though obviously not seeing out the trip nearly so well as the filly she beat in the Nell Gwyn, her stamina looking to drain away late on; held up, travelled better than most (bit keen early on), effort over 2f out, no extra inside final 1f; will benefit from return to short of 1m, with sprinting clearly an option.

wasn't disgraced over 1f longer trip, though a switch in tactics didn't seem to help her cause, dropping out late on after setting the pace; disputed lead, ridden over 2f out, headed soon after, weakened final 1f; bred to stay at least 1m.

Aidan O'Brien, whose runners in the 2000 Guineas had disappointed, bounced back with a fifth win in 6 years for the stable in the fillies equivalent, though it was the form pick Mother Earth rather than the once-raced joint-favourite Santa Barbara that came out decisively on top, the field slightly smaller than typical these days, Mother Earth's Fillies' Mile conquerer Pretty Gorgeous the most notable absentee due to an unsatisfactory scope and quite a few of the runners either not good enough or having stamina doubts, the form towards the lower end of the scale so far as the race overall is concerned; the pace was sound, the field racing as one group and with no hard-luck stories, the form at least a fair reflection on the day.

MOTHER EARTH (IRE) looked the form pick in an average field, placed in Group/Grade 1 company on her final 2 starts at 2 yrs, and she didn't need to improve on those efforts to run out a convincing winner on her return, coping well with firmer going, coming from further off the pace than the trio that chased her home, the decisive moment coming soon after 2f out; held up, good headway over 2f out, led soon after, in command 1f out, ran on; she's entered in the Oaks, but the fourth is a much more obvious candidate for that and a bid for a Guineas double at the Curragh seems the likely course.
