was encountering much firmer ground than when making a winning debut here 6 months earlier, ridden differently too, but the result was very much the same, winning in a good timefigure, and for all he might have been seen to good effect on the day, he was very impressive and looks well up to pattern company - there was talk of the 2000 Guineas afterwards but he would need supplementing as he was thought too immature to be put in the race initially (wore a red hood in the preliminaries and was playing up a bit as the stalls opened); soon led, travelled well, quickened 2f out, in command over 1f out, stormed clear; open to further improvement.

after 6 months off, ran at least as well as when winning his novice at Kempton, just bumping into a potentially really good one, asked to come from the back of the field, too; soon steadied, headway over 2f out, ran on, no match for winner; remains capable of better.

fitted with a tongue strap this time, can probably have this run overlooked, seeming unsuited by a combination of the track and the firmer ground; chased leader, pushed along 3f out, one paced; remains capable of better.

on firmer ground than previously, clearly wasn't 100% on the day after 6 months off; slowly into stride, in touch, effort over 2f out, left behind quickly, eased off; his previous form all reads well and he's worth another chance.

Winning Owner: Shadwell Estate Company Ltd

The winner had the advantage of making the running against the stand rail, while Duke of Mantua didn't give his running, but it was still very hard to not to be struck with this performance, a time more than a second quicker than the Class 2 handicap later on the card adding a good bit of substance, too.

MUTASAABEQ was encountering much firmer ground than when making a winning debut here 6 months earlier, ridden differently too, but the result was very much the same, winning in a good timefigure, and for all he might have been seen to good effect on the day, he was very impressive and looks well up to pattern company - there was talk of the 2000 Guineas afterwards but he would need supplementing as he was thought too immature to be put in the race initially (wore a red hood in the preliminaries and was playing up a bit as the stalls opened); soon led, travelled well, quickened 2f out, in command over 1f out, stormed clear; open to further improvement.
