A strong renewal of the Sun Chariot, with a representative field, the first and second from last year joined by the winners of the Matron, Falmouth and Irish 1000 Guineas as well as 3 other runners-up at Group 1 level this year, and the race didn't disappoint, the form having a very solid look to it, arguably the strongest mile race for fillies all year; the field raced as 2 groups, 4 up the centre, the rest towards the stand side, though still away from the rail, the first and second making their moves on opposite flanks, though the second drifted right over late on.

NAZEEF wasted no time getting back to form, gaining a second win at the highest level this year, proving herself fully effective under testing conditions; raced near side, prominent, travelled well, pushed along over 2f out, wandered after, led 1f out, kept on, driven out; she's entered at Ascot, though it's possible this will be her farewell effort, an exciting filly so far as the paddocks are concerned.

HALF LIGHT (IRE) has had a cracking campaign and proved at least as good as ever and might have done even better had she kept straight late on; raced centre, in touch, travelled well, effort 3f out, disputed lead over 1f out, hung left, not quicken last ½f.

CLOAK OF SPIRITS (IRE) goes well here, so it wasn't surprising perhaps that she found improvement back at this level, just 8 days on from a win here, worth giving full credit for her effort for now; raced near side, led group, ridden over 2f out, disputed lead over 1f out, not quicken inside last ½f.

CHAMPERS ELYSEES (IRE) wasn't in quite the same form as at Leopardstown and had her winning run ended, but she shaped better than the distances indicate, possibly not ideally suited by the track either, and is likely to bounce back quickly; raced near side, held up, travelled well, not clear run over 2f out, effort over 1f out, carried head bit awkwardly, kept on inside final 1f.

TEREBELLUM (IRE) was below form after 3 months off, though she promised more than she delivered, perhaps better for the run and likely to build on this back at Ascot in 2 weeks, perhaps the Champion Stakes the better option; raced near side, held up, travelled well, pushed along over 2f out, brief headway, not quicken final 1f.

LADY BOWTHORPE ran about as well as could have been expected upped in grade, just taking on opposition that was beyond her; raced centre, held up, shaken up soon after halfway, stayed on from 2f out, never on terms.

FELICIANA DE VEGA shaped as if retaining plenty of ability on her belated return, off virtually a year, likely to come on for the outing, assuming there's another option for her; raced near side, in touch, took keen hold, outpaced 3f out, hampered over 1f out, hung left, kept on late on.

BILLESDON BROOK successful last year, had stronger opposition this time, but wasn't at her best, her second to the winner in the Falmouth very much the pick of her efforts; raced centre, in touch, pushed along under 3f out, not quicken, no extra over 1f out; a pattern winner at 2 yrs, she's won twice at this level and has plenty of other smart efforts to her name, a durable and willing mare in 4 seasons to race.

VERACIOUS runner-up last year and contesting the race for the third time, wasn't at her best, failing to see her race out on testing ground; raced centre, led, travelled well, ridden 2f out, headed over 1f out, weakened; she went on to finish a creditable fourth in the Queen Elizabeth II at Ascot last year and holds an entry in that again.

FINAL SONG (IRE) needed to find more at this level, but still ran well below form, the ground perhaps a factor; slowly into stride, raced near side, held up, not settle fully, effort 3f out, hung right, left behind over 1f out.

LAVENDER'S BLUE (IRE) had plenty on back at this level, but she still promised more than she delivered, typically travelling smoothly; raced near side, in touch, travelled well, pushed along over 2f out, found little.

PEACEFUL (IRE) disappointed after 3 good runs in Group 1 company this campaign, connections blaming the ground, though she'd run well under similar conditions here last autumn; raced near side, close up, shaken up halfway, weakened over 2f out.
