has come a long way in a short space of time, only 4 weeks since his debut win, and proved himself a most progressive young colt with a completely dominant display in what was admittedly a pretty thin race by Group 3 standards; pressed leader, travelled best, led around 2f out, stormed clear; he's a big, scopey sort which only adds to his potential for his 3-y-o campaign but before that he's earnt a crack at a top juvenile race, the Dewhurst a possibility back over this C&D, although he'd need supplementing and would probably come up against Pinatubo, so stepping up to 1m for the Futurity Trophy at Doncaster may make more appeal and he'd have no issue with another furlong even now.

improved on his debut effort this time and justified connections' decision to give him another go in pattern company despite him not meeting expectations at York, no match for a very talented rival but worth focusing more on his beating of the rest; held up, shaken up 3f out, headway approaching 2f out, chased leader over 1f out, one paced; there's more speed than stamina in his pedigree and, at this stage, going back to 6f rather than up to 1m would look a more obvious move if they change trip.

wasted no time getting back to form, yet another good effort in face of a stiff task, and would've pushed for second with a clearer run through; held up, travelled better than most, had to wait for gap over 2f out, headway when short of room over 1f out, kept on.

wasn't in the same form as when fourth in the Phoenix, possible that race had left a mark; led until around 2f out, no extra final 1f.

attracted support but was well held up in grade; prominent, ridden over 2f out, weakened over 1f out; he'd progressed up to this point and is worth another chance.

clearly wasn't 100% on the day; in touch, off the bridle long way out, lost place soon after halfway, something not right.

With Gimcrack runner-up Lord of The Lodge taken out of the race on the day this was a Group 3 that overall lacked strength in depth but that shouldn't detract too much from Wichita who could hardly have been more impressive and ran to a rating that would win most races at this level comfortably.

WICHITA (IRE) has come a long way in a short space of time, only 4 weeks since his debut win, and proved himself a most progressive young colt with a completely dominant display in what was admittedly a pretty thin race by Group 3 standards; pressed leader, travelled best, led around 2f out, stormed clear; he's a big, scopey sort which only adds to his potential for his 3-y-o campaign but before that he's earnt a crack at a top juvenile race, the Dewhurst a possibility back over this C&D, although he'd need supplementing and would probably come up against Pinatubo, so stepping up to 1m for the Futurity Trophy at Doncaster may make more appeal and he'd have no issue with another furlong even now.
