wasted no time getting back on track, away from dirt, showing much improved form and putting himself firmly in the Guineas picture; led, quickened 3f out, in command 2f out, kept on well final 1f; he's unlikely to have things all his own way to the same extent in the Guineas itself, but this level of form is already close to the standard likely to be required.

in first-time blinkers and tongue strap after 7 months off, ran well upped in grade; held up, effort over 2f out, stayed on, took second close home, no match for winner; will stay beyond 1m; already useful, and may do better again.

stood out on his progressive form at 2 yrs and was all the rage in the market, so he obviously disappointed after 6 months off in finishing only third, having no answer to the winner's turn of foot in a tactical race; handy, effort over 2f out, not quicken, not knocked about; he's a powerfully-built colt, no reason to think he shouldn't make at least as good a 3-y-o as he was a 2-y-o, but it's back to the drawing board after this.

had a lot on in this company after just a novice win and was never a factor after 6 months off, though showing a little improvement, despite surprisingly appearing ill at ease on a track where he won on debut; tracked pace, shaken up over 2f out, lost place soon after; may do better still.

A disappointing field in anticipation for one of the premier Guineas trials, Roaring Lion looking to face a straightforward task, yet while he produced more of a wimper, Masar produced one of the best performances in the Craven this century, behind only Toronado, the margin of his success undeniably impressive whilst substance is provided by the clock.

MASAR (IRE) wasted no time getting back on track, away from dirt, showing much improved form and putting himself firmly in the Guineas picture; led, quickened 3f out, in command 2f out, kept on well final 1f; he's unlikely to have things all his own way to the same extent in the Guineas itself, but this level of form is already close to the standard likely to be required.
