was the top 2-y-o filly of 2015, rounding off her season with wins in the Moyglare and Fillies' Mile and she showed that she's come back at least as good as ever as she dominated this field; disputed lead, travelled smoothly, went on over 2f out, drew clear over 1f out, kept on well, impressive; unsurprisingly she was made a very short price for the Oaks, 11/10 the biggest price around (also 5/2 for the Derby with a run), but it's easy to draw comparisons with last year's Guineas winner Legatissimo, whose class didn't quite see her home at Epsom, and whilst there's every confidence Minding will also be fully effective at 1¼m her stamina for the Oaks trip isn't guaranteed, having the speed to win her maiden over 6f last year while her dam recorded her best efforts at 1m.

holds a victory over Minding in the Debutante last year before that filly improved past her later in the season, but Ballydoyle is a Group 1 performer in her own right, showing as much with her win in the Boussac last year and doing enough to win a typical One Thousand Guineas with this performance, particularly with the extra she was value for on top of the bare result having been caught further back than ideal and having to barge her way out; patiently ridden, effort over 3f out, gave bump to Midweek as she worked her way into the clear, began to make headway under 2f out, kept on well, finished with running left; as long as she keeps away from the winner, she can gain compensation soon, perhaps in the Irish Guineas as a first port of call, and rather like that rival she is likely to stay 1¼m without necessarily being sure to stay 1½m.

hadn't been seen to best effect at Leopardstown on her reappearance, caught out of her ground in testing conditions, but the outing there evidently served a purpose, spot on here as she wasted no time getting back to form; chased leaders, effort over 2f out, one paced; she's a smart and likeable filly, but she was only a bit-part player in the top races last season and no reason to suggest her 3-y-o career will be any different.

was a tough and consistent juvenile, on the go all season and rounding off with a listed win over C&D, this effort showing she hasn't stood still over the winter, running her best race returning from 6 months off; mid-field, driven over 2f out, responded well; still strong at the line, her pedigree also suggests she will stay at least 1¼m.

was back up in trip having won the Nell Gwyn over 7f at this track on her reappearance and wasn't disgraced for all she wasn't able to match that form or her effort behind the winner in the Fillies' Mile last autumn; mid-field, pushed along over 3f out, late headway; she doesn't have a lot of scope and isn't really bred for further, and it might be that she's shown about as much as she will.

has form that ties in with the placed horses, runner-up in the Boussac after winning the May Hill last year, form that entitled her to finish a bit closer than she did, just shaping as if needing the run returning from 7 months off, as on pedigree, she should have been hitting the line stronger than ultimately transpired; chased leaders, pushed along 3f out, no extra only late on; she's bred to stay at least 1¼m, and though she's not very big, is well enough put together to think she'll train on.

A representative field for this One Thousand Guineas, all the top 2-y-o fillies of 2015 taking part that had any pretentions to staying 1m, while Midweek added strength from France even if their best 3-y-o filly Qemah stayed at home and it was the filly that had been head and shoulders above the rest of the crop last year that again came out on top, Minding confirming herself to be some way ahead of the rest at present as she led home a notable 1-2-3 for her trainer, putting up an effort that has been bettered in this race by only Finsceal Beo since the turn of the century; the pace was sound and looks a pretty fair result, though runner-up Ballydoyle would probably have beaten the rest by further had she not been so far back while Mix And Mingle met a bit of trouble on her way though.

MINDING (IRE) was the top 2-y-o filly of 2015, rounding off her season with wins in the Moyglare and Fillies' Mile and she showed that she's come back at least as good as ever as she dominated this field; disputed lead, travelled smoothly, went on over 2f out, drew clear over 1f out, kept on well, impressive; unsurprisingly she was made a very short price for the Oaks, 11/10 the biggest price around (also 5/2 for the Derby with a run), but it's easy to draw comparisons with last year's Guineas winner Legatissimo, whose class didn't quite see her home at Epsom, and whilst there's every confidence Minding will also be fully effective at 1¼m her stamina for the Oaks trip isn't guaranteed, having the speed to win her maiden over 6f last year while her dam recorded her best efforts at 1m.
