All 14 ran.

Winning Owner: Mr John Murphy & Miss L A Perratt

Time: 1m 11.21s

Overrounds: Industry SP 125%, Betfair SP 99.9%

A useful handicap, but perhaps not such strong form as it looked like it might be, 2 of the first 3 fully exposed relative veterans, for all they were back to workable marks; the best of the pace was low to middle, with the third, fifth and sixth making up late ground on the near flank.

THE CALTONIAN had dropped back down to the mark he defied for his last win, also over C&D, a year ago and bounced back to his best to cause a surprise in a higher grade than he usually operates in; hampered start, mid-division, pushed along before halfway, headway 2f out, led over 1f out, edged right, driven out.

PUREST TIME is better judged on previous form, running out of room in the closing stages; mid-field, pushed along 2f out, keeping on when hampered final 100 yds, not recover.
