looked a smart prospect stepping up in trip and grade after 5 months off, his rider never needing to apply maximum pressure, every reason to think he's got plenty more to come on this showing, for all his 2000 Guineas entry is likely to prove a step too far; held up, travelled well, headway over 1f out, led final 1f, well on top finish, hands-and-heels ride; will go on improving.

making all-weather debut, ran well back up in trip, particularly given this was his first outing for 6 months, tiring in the closing stages; in touch, led over 1f out, headed final 1f, no extra late on.

set the clear standard on form and was unlucky not to finish closer after 6 months off, taking time to get rolling again having met some trouble, sure to have been second, but the ease of the winner means it's hard to suggest he would have won, though this effort shows he is as good as last year; in touch, headway when no room 2f out, ridden over 1f out, stayed on; should remain competitive.

ran his best race to get into contention in this deeper listed contest than the one he won in France recently, his earlier exertions perhaps hampering his finishing effort; held up, raced freely, headway out wide over 2f out, challenged over 1f out, no extra last ½f.

A listed race which threw up an exciting winner, Checkandchallenge taking the step up in grade in his stride, his confident rider only needing to nudge him out to score by a clear margin, fully capitalising on the luckless run of the favourite, though it's hard to suggest Imperial Fighter would have got up with a clear run; the pace was fair.

CHECKANDCHALLENGE looked a smart prospect stepping up in trip and grade after 5 months off, his rider never needing to apply maximum pressure, every reason to think he's got plenty more to come on this showing, for all his 2000 Guineas entry is likely to prove a step too far; held up, travelled well, headway over 1f out, led final 1f, well on top finish, hands-and-heels ride; will go on improving.
