has quickly made into a useful handicapper and completed the hat-trick after 3 months off, again professional in the way he went about things and having a bit more to spare than the margins suggest; close up, produced to lead over 1f out, pushed out; he can hardly go up much for this, but at the same time it's fair to say that handicaps at this sort of level are normally far more competitive.

got back on track away from Southwell on handicap debut, shaping as though likely to be at least as effective over 1m; dropped out, shaken up over 2f out, headway under pressure approaching final 1f, responded well; she's eligible for much lower-grade handicaps.

had a good-value claimer up and confirmed the improvement shown at Lingfield, going down only narrowly under a 6-lb penalty (due to go up just 4 lb) despite failing to settle; tracked pace, took strong hold, ridden under 2f out, stayed on; he should continue to be of interest in similar handicaps.

was without headgear this time and seemingly put in his place by better-treated rivals, acknowledging Newcastle is the least favourable all-weather track for front running; dictated, shaken up 2f out, headed over 1f out, not quicken.

Hardly a deep handicap by 0-95 standards, but the winner is still on the up, edging out a lightly-raced one and another that's been improved in recent starts; the pace set by Falcon Brook was fair.
