confirmed promise of last run with a claimer on board, looking about as good as he ever has; in touch, shaken up 3f out, challenged 2f out, stayed on to lead over 1f out, kept on well.

ran up to best back under 7 lb claimer, though the winner wanted it more; in touch, headway 3f out, every chance from 2f out, typically carried head awkwardly, no extra final 100 yds.

easy to back after 8 weeks off (for his all-weather debut), does have a turn of foot for a stayer but was still done no favours by a hold-up ride the way this developed; held up, outpaced 3f out, ran on late, never nearer, left with too much to do; he should pop up in a race or 2 this winter.

offered little back on the Flat on first outing since leaving Ann Hamilton after 7 weeks off, his profile a negative one even if this was needed (went without headgear); led, headed over 2f out, weakened (likely to have been beaten further in more strongly-run race).

Quite a competitive staying handicap but, as is often the case in these sorts of races, it developed into a sprint, the favourite disadvantaged the most given his position.

LUCKY DEAL confirmed promise of last run with a claimer on board, looking about as good as he ever has; in touch, shaken up 3f out, challenged 2f out, stayed on to lead over 1f out, kept on well.
