got off the mark for the season with the headgear quickly discarded, keeping his quirks in check this time as he belatedly confirmed the promise of his run in the King George V Handicap a mere 12 months on; soon steadied, going well when no room over 3f out, got gap 2f out, quickened to lead inside final 1f, kept up to work; there'll be sterner tests of his resolution around the corner.

failed to take advantage of what looked a good opportunity against exposed older horses under a top claimer, the way he travelled proposing a try over further still and/or in headgear; tracked pace, off the bridle before most, carried left over 2f out, not quicken briefly, stayed on inside final 1f.

returned to form and looks interesting now given how well he progressed once finding his form last year; mid-field, headway to lead under 2f out, headed inside final 1f, kept on; one to look out for.

without usual headgear, was in much the easiest race he's run in for some time and looked like he might take advantage entering the latter stages but couldn't sustain his run from the back; dwelt, in rear, no room 3f out, good headway out wide under 2f out, effort flattened out inside final 1f.

wasn't disgraced without appearing in the same form as last time, though that could be a function of a mark in the mid-80s, more required from it; led after 3f, headed over 3f out, one paced.

after 10 weeks off, turned in a rare poor effort a track at which he goes well, his 3 course wins including this race in 2019; led early, remained prominent, led again over 3f out, headed under 3f out, weakened.

The sole 3-y-o was understandably quite a warm order up aganist a bunch of exposed - if largely in form - older horses but he couldn't progress, the winner looking more resolute than previously this year to take advantage in a truly-run race.

PARACHUTE got off the mark for the season with the headgear quickly discarded, keeping his quirks in check this time as he belatedly confirmed the promise of his run in the King George V Handicap a mere 12 months on; soon steadied, going well when no room over 3f out, got gap 2f out, quickened to lead inside final 1f, kept up to work; there'll be sterner tests of his resolution around the corner.

ZAIN NIGHTS failed to take advantage of what looked a good opportunity against exposed older horses under a top claimer, the way he travelled proposing a try over further still and/or in headgear; tracked pace, off the bridle before most, carried left over 2f out, not quicken briefly, stayed on inside final 1f.

MIRAMICHI (IRE) returned to form and looks interesting now given how well he progressed once finding his form last year; mid-field, headway to lead under 2f out, headed inside final 1f, kept on; one to look out for.

SCARLET DRAGON without usual headgear, was in much the easiest race he's run in for some time and looked like he might take advantage entering the latter stages but couldn't sustain his run from the back; dwelt, in rear, no room 3f out, good headway out wide under 2f out, effort flattened out inside final 1f.

GRAND SCHEME (IRE) wasn't disgraced without appearing in the same form as last time, though that could be a function of a mark in the mid-80s, more required from it; led after 3f, headed over 3f out, one paced.

FRONTISPIECE after 10 weeks off, turned in a rare poor effort a track at which he goes well, his 3 course wins including this race in 2019; led early, remained prominent, led again over 3f out, headed under 3f out, weakened.
