upped in trip, shaped well after 3 months off, coming from miles back to chase home a prominently-ridden pair from in-form yards; patiently ridden, still last leaving back straight, had to wait for gap approaching home turn, headway between 3 out and 2 out, ran on, left poorly placed; this opens up more options with regards trip, though the Sandown race over 2½m on the final day of the season that he won in 2019 is a potential target.

Not that many looked of particular interest on recent form and, with the favourite flopping, the race has a rather underwhelming feel, the first 2 - both from yards in very good form - seemingly benefiting from prominent pitches and it's the third who's the one to note for next time.

REGARDING RUTH (IRE) is building up a good record away from the mud and found some improvement to resume winning ways for a stable that's suddenly in cracking form, well positioned but still well on top at the line; chased leaders, jumped on 3 out, drew clear run-in.
