set the standard dropped in grade and didn't need to match the pick of his efforts to come out on top; handy, went with zest, loomed up 2f out, led over 1f out, kept on; seen to better effect than the pair who chased him home, but will remain of interest provided his sights aren't set too high.

after 6 weeks off ran up to best, more patient tactics at this trip seeming to suit as she packed more punch in the finish than has been the case; waited with, travelled fluently, had to wait for gap over 1f out, got gap entering final 1f, kept on.

shaped better than the distance beaten suggests, doing enough to suggest he's still in good nick; mid-field, caught behind weakening rival over 2f out and shuffled back, got gap final 1f and kept on well, never nearer, left poorly placed.

turned in best effort of the season, the step back up in trip probably coincidental rather than a catalyst given how he went about things; led, travelled fluently, pushed along 2f out, headed over 1f out, carried head bit awkwardly, no extra.

The winner didn't need to be at his decidedly smart best to take this listed race, though he'd have been given more to think about by the Godolphin pair who chased him home had they enjoyed the rub of the green, D'bai in particular looking unlucky.
