confirmed promise of last run, no improving 3-y-o to deal with this time, though Qaysar was better than ever himself returned to a track where he won a competitive handicap last season, his record here a perfect 2 from 2 now; waited with, travelled well, had to wait for gap over 2f out, headway soon after, led over 1f out, edged right, forged clear; will continue to give a good account for a yard bang in form.

back down in trip, confirmed return to form, unlucky not to finish closer in fact, though he leaves a nagging doubt that he isn't really one to go overboard about; mid-division, travelled well, shuffled back over 2f out, got gap approaching final 1f, ran on, no impression on winner.

after 9 weeks off, continues in good heart, a mark in the 90's probably just too much for him, especially away from the mud; soon led, headed 2f out, rallied, edged right over 1f out, left behind by winner final 1f.

well backed, disappointed in first-time cheekpieces, producing very much a laboured effort; slowly into stride, raced off the pace, ridden over 2f out, kept on final 100 yds, never a threat; he'll benefit from a return to further, though there was more than the trip at play here.

back down in trip, hinted at a revival, shaping better than the distance beaten suggests; close up, led 2f out, headed over 1f out, hampered soon after, faded; he's not straightforward so is far from certain to back this up, though he's only 2 lb higher than for his reappearance victory should he build on this.

in first-time cheekpieces, is probably in better heart than recent form figures suggest, again not getting home kept to 1m, being stuck without cover more towards the flank no help; chased leaders, took keen hold, effort 2f out, weakened approaching final 1f; he'll benefit from a return to 7f, and isn't one to give up on.

The lifeless display of the favourite accentuated a lack of depth in this handicap, especially for the track, though the winner did it readily and ought to be viewed positively; the pace was fair.

QAYSAR (FR) confirmed promise of last run, no improving 3-y-o to deal with this time, though Qaysar was better than ever himself returned to a track where he won a competitive handicap last season, his record here a perfect 2 from 2 now; waited with, travelled well, had to wait for gap over 2f out, headway soon after, led over 1f out, edged right, forged clear; will continue to give a good account for a yard bang in form.
