had excuses at Chelmsford last time and got back on the up in pretty spectacular style, though was undoubtedly seen to good effect under an intelligent ride from Jim Crowley, who ensured he was the last to break cover into the wind; held up, tanked along, headway over 2f out, switched over 1f out, quickened to lead entering final 1f, drew clear, won readily; he's a colt in top hands who is going the right way but is probably a bit flattered by this winning margin.

had won a handicap here off just 79 in August but vindicated his connections' decision to immediately up him in class, looking well at home in this grade and shaping well, not getting as nice a tow into the race as the winner and seeing more of the headwind as a result; tracked pace, travelled well, challenged over 1f out, left behind by winner entering final 1f, kept on; this is only his first season and there's more to come.

ran creditably but was ridden with more cover than most and was very much picking up the pieces late on; mid-field, effort 2f out, kept on final 1f, merely passed beaten horses.

shaped better than the distance beaten suggests down in trip, tiring late on having seen more daylight than a couple that beat him, though he didn't have the form chance the market suggested (very strong in betting); mid-field, headway over 2f out, challenged over 1f out, not quicken, lost third dying strides.

wasn't disgraced but the 3 he beat home all bore the brunt of the headwind far more than he did; raced off the pace, pushed along 2f out, made no impression.

probably remains in top form, shaping better than the distance beaten suggests having raced without cover from the wind, nothing left during the final 1f as a result; prominent, led briefly over 2f out, tackled over 1f out, faded final 1f.

Another race on this card in which the headwind played a big role, not the most solid piece of form as a result, those that set the pace beaten 2f out, the winner streaking clear late on having been produced last of all by Jim Crowley.

MANKIB had excuses at Chelmsford last time and got back on the up in pretty spectacular style, though was undoubtedly seen to good effect under an intelligent ride from Jim Crowley, who ensured he was the last to break cover into the wind; held up, tanked along, headway over 2f out, switched over 1f out, quickened to lead entering final 1f, drew clear, won readily; he's a colt in top hands who is going the right way but is probably a bit flattered by this winning margin.

GOOD EFFORT (IRE) had won a handicap here off just 79 in August but vindicated his connections' decision to immediately up him in class, looking well at home in this grade and shaping well, not getting as nice a tow into the race as the winner and seeing more of the headwind as a result; tracked pace, travelled well, challenged over 1f out, left behind by winner entering final 1f, kept on; this is only his first season and there's more to come.

SUMMER ICON ran creditably but was ridden with more cover than most and was very much picking up the pieces late on; mid-field, effort 2f out, kept on final 1f, merely passed beaten horses.

RED MIST shaped better than the distance beaten suggests down in trip, tiring late on having seen more daylight than a couple that beat him, though he didn't have the form chance the market suggested (very strong in betting); mid-field, headway over 2f out, challenged over 1f out, not quicken, lost third dying strides.

NEBO (IRE) wasn't disgraced but the 3 he beat home all bore the brunt of the headwind far more than he did; raced off the pace, pushed along 2f out, made no impression.

MJJACK (IRE) probably remains in top form, shaping better than the distance beaten suggests having raced without cover from the wind, nothing left during the final 1f as a result; prominent, led briefly over 2f out, tackled over 1f out, faded final 1f.

HELLS BABE in first-time cheekpieces, can have a line put through this run having cut out much of the running into the wind; disputed lead, weakened from 2f out.

ULTIMATE AVENUE (IRE) can have this run overlooked, making the running into the headwind; disputed lead, weakened from 2f out.
