confirmed the promise of his Cheltenham run, back from a break looking at least as good as ever, notwithstanding he was far better suited than most by the relative emphasis on speed; mid-division, travelled strongly, good progress from 3 out, produced to lead soon after next, settled race quickly and clear run-in, won readily; he's set for a career-high mark next time, however.

shaped well in the end after 7 months off, having been unsuited by the way the race developed, an out-and-out stayer after all; held up, hampered sixth, mistake 4 out, ridden from next, stayed on all the while to claim a place; still unexposed, he's well worth another chance.

Winning Owner: Prof. Caroline Tisdall

Time: 6m 3.4s Closing Sectional: (3.95f): 58.10s (101.9%)

A Pertemps Qualifier at a galloping track ought to test stamina but this one - in which 5 of the 12 were reverting from chasing - was prevented from doing so by a stop-start gallop that ensured the field was covered by no more than 6 lengths as close to home as 3 out, Dell' Arca's pace for shorter counting for plenty for all he also looks revitalised at present.

DELL' ARCA (IRE) confirmed the promise of his Cheltenham run, back from a break looking at least as good as ever, notwithstanding he was far better suited than most by the relative emphasis on speed; mid-division, travelled strongly, good progress from 3 out, produced to lead soon after next, settled race quickly and clear run-in, won readily; he's set for a career-high mark next time, however.

WHATAKNIGHT ran well once more, especially so under these circumstances, with a false pace placing insufficient emphasis on stamina; in touch, outpaced 3 out, rallied well from next, went second late on, finished with running left.

BENEAGLES (IRE) shaped well in the end after 7 months off, having been unsuited by the way the race developed, an out-and-out stayer after all; held up, hampered sixth, mistake 4 out, ridden from next, stayed on all the while to claim a place; still unexposed, he's well worth another chance.

TERRY THE FISH (IRE) shaped as if still in good form, an unusually clumsy display of jumping not helping his cause; led early, mistakes first, second, remained prominent, untidy again 4 out, led briefly again 3 out, plugged on.

JUST MILLY (IRE) again ran creditably, though even this good-value claimer couldn't spark the improvement needed to defy her mark in a stronger handicap; held up, hampered sixth, good progress out wide 3 out, edged ahead soon after, headed soon after next, no extra only late on.

COURT FRONTIER (IRE) back over hurdles, looked rather rusty after 7 months off but clearly retains plenty of ability; raced off the pace, mistake eighth, behind approaching 3 out, stayed on again late on, never a threat.

CLOSING CEREMONY (IRE) back over hurdles, showed some ability remains after 22 months off; soon led, headed when steadied into 3 out, dropped away gradually.

MINELLA ON LINE (IRE) back over hurdles after 7 months off, was presumably having a pipe-opener; waited with, ridden when switched soon after 3 out, made little impression.

TOBEFAIR straight back over hurdles, possibly still needed this run, his jumping rather sluggish, too; tracked pace, flattened 5 out, ridden after 2 out, faded, held when blundered last.

CAPTAIN BUCK'S (FR) possibly failed to stay the extra distance after 6 months off, though fitness might have been an issue as well, either way shaping as though back in good heart; in touch, close up when shaken up after 3 out, not fluent next, dropped away.

LAURIUM back over hurdles, shaped as if needing the run after 7 months off; tracked pace until 3 out, beaten quickly, not persevered with once held.

ONEFITZALL (IRE) failed to complete after 11 months off; mid-field, fell sixth, well before his stamina for the longer trip could be tested.
