making handicap debut after 10 weeks off, proved a different proposition back in a large field and with a good pace to run at, showing himself a smart novice; mid-division, not always fluent, smooth headway early in straight, led after 2 out, kept on well; his jumping is a bit of a worry, but in terms of ability and effectiveness at the track he has to be high on the shortlist for whichever novice he contests at Cheltenham.

making handicap debut after the minimum required runs in novices, showed much improved form, well served by the different tempo of a big-field handicap; mid-division, travelled well, smooth headway 3 out, led 2 out, headed soon after, kept on well run-in; open to further improvement and would be no forlorn hope were he also to take his chance in a novice at Cheltenham.

ran creditably, even though well-in in this early closer, just no match for a speedier pair who were making their handicap debut; prominent, effort home turn, led 3 out, driven soon after, headed 2 out, not quicken, kept on well run-in; he remains with potential, particularly over further.

Two novices contesting a handicap after just the minimum requirement of 3 runs proved miles ahead of their marks, in what was a very satisfactory race, run at a proper gallop with no hard-luck stories, a stack of more exposed rivals with solid handicap form chasing the pair home at a safe distance, pointing to form sure to prove strong and reliable, the pair running to a level that would make them leading players in either of the novice hurdles on the first 2 days at Cheltenham.

BALLYANDY making handicap debut after 10 weeks off, proved a different proposition back in a large field and with a good pace to run at, showing himself a smart novice; mid-division, not always fluent, smooth headway early in straight, led after 2 out, kept on well; his jumping is a bit of a worry, but in terms of ability and effectiveness at the track he has to be high on the shortlist for whichever novice he contests at Cheltenham.
