was down significantly in the weights, off a mark just 1 lb higher than he'd won off in the autumn, and in a lesser race than last time, and returned to form, the cheekpieces quickly dispensed with as well; prominent, travelled well, effort 3 out, challenged next, led dying strides; his fate remains in the hands of the handicapper.

after just 6 days off, proved better than ever, though his rather in-and-out record doesn't exactly promise a repeat of this next time; held up, headway straight, led 3 out, ridden last, kept on, headed dying strides.

after 10 weeks off, ran best race of 3 over fences, even though unable to see things out so well as the first 2; in touch, travelled well, every chance when mistake 2 out, weakened run-in.

offered little after 5 months off, having had just the one run for Paul NIcholls; held up, not fluent ninth, pushed along twelfth, made no impression; he couldn't be faulted for appearance beforehand, but there's something not working and he now has questions to answer.

A weak race for the grade, all the more so with 2 of the market leaders well below expectations, and a cautious view is advised of the form.

BOB TUCKER (IRE) was down significantly in the weights, off a mark just 1 lb higher than he'd won off in the autumn, and in a lesser race than last time, and returned to form, the cheekpieces quickly dispensed with as well; prominent, travelled well, effort 3 out, challenged next, led dying strides; his fate remains in the hands of the handicapper.
