proved better than ever, the cheekpieces working a treat again, some strong form to his name and finally off the mark in a slightly less competitive race than he often contests; in touch, travelled well, not fluent fifth, headway 3 out, led before last, kept on well run-in; he's likely to continue in form, but he will face tougher tasks, back in stronger races off a higher mark.

An open-looking handicap, if not necessarily a strong one for the grade, and a few seemed found out by the drying ground.

GASSIN GOLF proved better than ever, the cheekpieces working a treat again, some strong form to his name and finally off the mark in a slightly less competitive race than he often contests; in touch, travelled well, not fluent fifth, headway 3 out, led before last, kept on well run-in; he's likely to continue in form, but he will face tougher tasks, back in stronger races off a higher mark.

LOUGH KENT has been given a chance by the handicapper after finishing last on his last 2 starts and bounced back to form; waited with, travelled well, not clear run before 3 out, ridden 2 out, kept on well to take second run-in, no impression on winner.

DESERT RECLUSE (IRE) ran creditably, needing no excuses, just high enough in the weights; prominent, travelled well, chased leader 3 out, one paced approaching last.

WILLEM (FR) on less testing ground than at Ascot, ran much better than there after 9 weeks off; led, travelled well, headed before last, one paced; still early days with this yard and could well build on this, so one to be interested in.

BABY KING (IRE) on less testing ground than previously, ran creditably, though lacked the pace to get into contention and may be worth a try over further; held up, ridden early in straight, headway when not fluent 2 out, stayed on, unable to land a blow.

CHESIL BEACH BOY was below form on ground unlikely to have been soft enough for him; in rear, pushed along fifth, made no impression.
