who won the novice handicap on this card last year, confirmed return to form; made running, took keen hold, headed when slow seventh, upsides again 4 out, no extra from 2 out; unlike the winner, he'll have stamina to prove if taking his chance at Aintree.

is enjoying something of an indian summer to his career but it's still hard to believe this doesn't flatter him to some extent; raced along inside, held up, driven entering straight, keeping on when blundered 2 out, one paced.

All 5 ran. Fences: 14.

Winning Owner: Mr John P. McManus

Time: 5m 54.9s Closing Sectional: (3.1f): 49.8s (108.2%)

Overrounds: Industry SP 110%, Betfair SP 99.9%

A well-established Grade 2 but this the first running of it over an extra ½m; not untypical for a race of this nature, the proximity of the third raises doubts over the value of the form.

ANY SECOND NOW (IRE) completed his National prep with a repeat win in this race (also landed it in 2021 when it was still over 2m), though will have more on his plate again at Aintree this time around from a mark another 8 lb higher than last year; prominent, upsides when untidy 2 out, asserted between last 2, driven out.

HURRICANE DARWIN (IRE) is enjoying something of an indian summer to his career but it's still hard to believe this doesn't flatter him to some extent; raced along inside, held up, driven entering straight, keeping on when blundered 2 out, one paced.

BUSSELTON (FR) might have needed the run after 4 months off, this likely to leave him spot on for a tilt at the Irish National; prominent, jumped on seventh, joined 4 out, headed next, no extra.

FIRE ATTACK (IRE) did complete this time but never got competitive after 6 months off; in rear, left behind before home turn, plugged on; was reported to have hung badly left.
