who needed 6 goes to shed his maiden tag last year, seemed to excel himself after 5 months off and it remains to be seen if he can confirm this form with number of those that finished behind him; close up, quickened to lead entering final 1f, always holding on.

successful at listed level for Marco Botti last year, shaped well in first-time tongue strap after 6 months off; mid-division, forced wide over 1f out, kept on well, not unduly punished, conceded first run; open to further improvement.

runner-up to his stable companion U S Navy Flag in the Middle Park on his final start last year, shaped as if better for the run after 7 months off, and it is worth pointing out that both of his wins came on good to firm ground; disputed lead, headed over 1f out, one paced, not knocked about; likely to be much closer to form next time.

was below form on all 3 tries on ground softer than good last year and it was a similar story here after 7 months off, the penalty incurred for his Phoenix Stakes win a mere side issue on the day; dropped out, kept on, not knocked about; an imposing individual, he remains likely to take high rank in the sprinting division this year.

bought for 1.5m guineas out of Mathieu Palussiere's stable after a highly successful juvenile campaign (runner-up to Clemmie in the Cheveley Park on final start), was strong in the betting after 7 months off, but failed to meet expectations, the run presumably just needed; mid-division, travelled as well as any, shaken up over 1f out, not quicken; type to bounce back quickly.

All 7 ran.

Winning Owner: Martin G Walsh

Time: 1m 13.12s Closing Sectional: (2.00f): 25.40s (100.1%)

A strong listed race on paper, a number of these proven at a higher level, but with the Ballydoyle trio all underperforming to varying degrees it didn't take so much winning as seemed likely, The Broghie Man just lasting home after getting first run on Speak In Colours.

THE BROGHIE MAN who needed 6 goes to shed his maiden tag last year, seemed to excel himself after 5 months off and it remains to be seen if he can confirm this form with number of those that finished behind him; close up, quickened to lead entering final 1f, always holding on.

SPEAK IN COLOURS successful at listed level for Marco Botti last year, shaped well in first-time tongue strap after 6 months off; mid-division, forced wide over 1f out, kept on well, not unduly punished, conceded first run; open to further improvement.

FLEET REVIEW (USA) runner-up to his stable companion U S Navy Flag in the Middle Park on his final start last year, shaped as if better for the run after 7 months off, and it is worth pointing out that both of his wins came on good to firm ground; disputed lead, headed over 1f out, one paced, not knocked about; likely to be much closer to form next time.

SIOUX NATION (USA) was below form on all 3 tries on ground softer than good last year and it was a similar story here after 7 months off, the penalty incurred for his Phoenix Stakes win a mere side issue on the day; dropped out, kept on, not knocked about; an imposing individual, he remains likely to take high rank in the sprinting division this year.

DIFFERENT LEAGUE (FR) bought for 1.5m guineas out of Mathieu Palussiere's stable after a highly successful juvenile campaign (runner-up to Clemmie in the Cheveley Park on final start), was strong in the betting after 7 months off, but failed to meet expectations, the run presumably just needed; mid-division, travelled as well as any, shaken up over 1f out, not quicken; type to bounce back quickly.

BRICK BY BRICK (IRE) got better with racing last year (won listed race on seventh start) and might have needed the run after 7 months off; raced far side, disputed lead, ridden 2f out, no extra.

TOO FAMILIAR (IRE) after 10 months off, faced a stiff task in this grade but offered little in the way of short-term encouragement; ridden before halfway, never involved.
