whose yard is red-hot at the moment, goes well fresh and, strong in the betting, showed much improved form after 7 months off, capitalising on the drop in grade and seemingly more ready than the also returning favourite, posting a dominant performance as well as a borderline high-class one; made all, typically jumped well, ridden 2 out, in command soon after last, impressive; this will put him among the leading contenders for the Grade 1 at Leopardstown over Christmas, a race the yard has won twice since 2019.

reportedly met with a set-back in the spring following his Leopardstown disappointment and shaped as if needing the run after 9 months off, his jumping rather rusty; waited with, untidy first, not fluent third, took closer order before sixth, around 2 lengths down and yet to be asked for effort when mistake 2 out, ridden soon after, no extra flat; there's every chance he'll again be up against the winner next time but he'd be uncertain to overturn the form given that one's dominance, still a bit off the lofty heights he reached over hurdles.

representing last year's winning connections, has a fine strike rate outside of Grade 1 company and usually goes well fresh but proved to be a disappointment after 6 months off (had finished a place ahead of the winner at Aintree), a jolting error early on possibly a factor; close up, took keen hold, clouted fourth, shaken up entering straight, beaten 2 out.

isn't proving the easiest to place and found the drop back to 2m against him; raced off the pace, awkward fifth, pushed along end of back straight, never involved.

An up-to-scratch renewal that revolved around the returning Marine Nationale, both he and the other Grade 1 winning hurdler in the field, Quilixios, having it to themselves from early in the straight, the favourite seeming in need of the outing as he surrendered between the last 2, the timefigure underpinning a positive view of the form.

QUILIXIOS whose yard is red-hot at the moment, goes well fresh and, strong in the betting, showed much improved form after 7 months off, capitalising on the drop in grade and seemingly more ready than the also returning favourite, posting a dominant performance as well as a borderline high-class one; made all, typically jumped well, ridden 2 out, in command soon after last, impressive; this will put him among the leading contenders for the Grade 1 at Leopardstown over Christmas, a race the yard has won twice since 2019.
