usually manages to win at least once a season and doubled his tally for this one in emphatic fashion, jumping much better over these easy fences and seemingly as good as ever, though there's little doubt this took less winning than seemed likely and he faces a hefty rise in the weights for winning by as far as he did; made running, untidy second, headed sixth, went on again eighth, drew clear from 4 out, in command from next and went further clear as First Account tired.

shaped as if still in good form before failing to see things out properly back up in trip after 8 weeks off, his jumping also going to pieces as he tired; pressed leader, jumped on sixth, headed eighth, not fluent twelfth, every chance still 5 out, left behind by winner from next, mistakes after.

had been off for 3 months since winning at Fakenham and, with little strength behind him in the market, wasn't seen to best effect; raced off the pace, lost ground around halfway, still plenty to do end of back straight, stayed on from 4 out, finished with running left.

had won a race at Catterick 7 weeks earlier that hasn't worked out at all, telling that he was sent off the outsider of the field here despite being just 2 lb higher, and he couldn't make much of an impact; held up, some headway back straight, ridden home turn, no further impression.

Pookie Pekan was very much on a going day as he came home by a wide margin, but there's a strong likelihood that none of his rivals were anywhere near their best, the first 2 the only ones really in it from a long way out.

POOKIE PEKAN (IRE) usually manages to win at least once a season and doubled his tally for this one in emphatic fashion, jumping much better over these easy fences and seemingly as good as ever, though there's little doubt this took less winning than seemed likely and he faces a hefty rise in the weights for winning by as far as he did; made running, untidy second, headed sixth, went on again eighth, drew clear from 4 out, in command from next and went further clear as First Account tired.
