goes well fresh and was able to make a winning reappearance for a second year running, some lenient handicapping allowing him to run here from a 1 lb lower mark than he defied at Newmarket; forced pace, travelled well, pushed along over 2f out, challenged inside final 1f, just held on; this appeals as good form with the first 3 clear, and he ran well second time out last year too.

was well backed on just his second start for the yard and again shaped promisingly, threatening to come good soon; slowly into stride, mid-field, uncomfortable with pace, headway from 2f out, finished well; he's obviously effective at 5f given how close he got, but he's spent much of his career at further and a return to 6f will perhaps suit ideally - either way he's one to be interested in again next time.

who goes well at this track, shaped as if retaining all his ability after 5 months off, ending up having to challenge from too far back after a slow start (a fairly regular occurence); slowly into stride, in rear, never travelling well, headway inside final 1f, nearest at the finish; he's still eligible for much lesser races than this one.

a former winner of this race, hasn't yet reached 2020 levels this season (in Dubai first 3 starts), and ran just respectably after 6 weeks off having been unable to lead this time; chased leader, pushed along halfway, edged right, weakened final 100 yds; the handicapper should cut him some slack at least.

All 13 ran.

Winning Owner: M Balmer, K Sheedy, P Copple, C Dingwall

Time: 58.28s

Overrounds: Industry SP 118%, Betfair SP 100.2%

The second running of this race in an early-season slot, the prize-fund reduced further still than in 2019, Jabbarockie winning around a quarter of what Caspian Prince did when successful in the 2018 renewal, that surely one of the factors that saw this attract the smallest field in its history; that said, it still appeals as good form among the trio that pulled clear, the front runner just holding off a couple of strong finishers.

JABBAROCKIE goes well fresh and was able to make a winning reappearance for a second year running, some lenient handicapping allowing him to run here from a 1 lb lower mark than he defied at Newmarket; forced pace, travelled well, pushed along over 2f out, challenged inside final 1f, just held on; this appeals as good form with the first 3 clear, and he ran well second time out last year too.
