resurgent since teaming up with Clifford Lee, who could claim only 5 of his 7 lb here, putting up 2 lb overweight, but it still helped a lot in an extended duel with Gabrial The Hero, kicking on fully 4f out and looking vulnerable at several stages thereafter, but pulling out more whenever required, showing a will to win that her Flat record hid.

expressed himself all the more than he could in the competitive arenas of the Chester Cup and Northumberland Plate, looking set to gain full reward for much of the straight, and that he couldn't get by says more about Intense Tango's determination, Gabrial The Hero hardly flinching in their head-to-head through the last 2f, never better in form terms.

found this less demanding than the John Smith's Cup, doing better, without suggesting it's a stepping stone, a job on even for O'Meara to get him closer to his old form at his age, and despite the longer trip than usual he was off the bridle before the home straight, plugging away, hardly shaping like he's mid-revival.

different to 2015, when progress ran alongside his consistency, all or nothing this year, with more of the latter, previous disappointments in the Chester Cup and Northumberland Plate more forgivable than this, struggling 3f out, all rather half-hearted, perhaps some temperament creeping in; the stable heat has been turned right down lately.

prone to throwing in the towel, 3 of his last 4 runs in that category, seeming amiss on 2 of those occasions but just not that motivated here by the look of it, in different headgear, giving timid chase to the principals in the straight.
