emphatically confirmed promise of last run as he improved to win his first race of any description, running out an impressive come-from-behind winner at a track where such tactics aren't always easy to pull off; dropped out, travelled powerfully, good progress home turn, chased leaders 3 out, produced to lead before last, forged clear; a higher mark shouldn't stop him from going close again next time, though a well-run race is probably going to be key (free-going sort).

showed he's been handed a fair mark, albeit without finding any improvement for less testing conditions, a bit of surprise bearing in mind his useful Flat form; mid-division, chased leaders after 4 out, shaken up next, kept on, took second flat; either way, this shows he's on a competitive mark, and merit on the level suggests he may yet improve.

has dropped a long way in the weights and shaped well in first-time tongue strap after 10 weeks off, looking as though his in-form stable has got him back firing; close up, travelled well, went on before 3 out, mistake next, headed before last, no extra, possibly making effort a bit earlier than ideal; one to be interested in.

is unlikely to want this sharp a test but still ran a flat-out stinker making handicap debut after 8 weeks off, his opening mark (which is fair judged on bumper form if not hurdling efforts up to now) nothing to do with it; mid-division, never travelling well, lost place third, mistake next, looked none too keen, beaten long way out; questions to answer now.

Quite a well contested handicap and the form should work out, with the first 3 comprising a big improver, a useful Flat horse making its handicap debut and one that has dropped a long way in the weights; the pace was sound.

SILVER DUKE (IRE) emphatically confirmed promise of last run as he improved to win his first race of any description, running out an impressive come-from-behind winner at a track where such tactics aren't always easy to pull off; dropped out, travelled powerfully, good progress home turn, chased leaders 3 out, produced to lead before last, forged clear; a higher mark shouldn't stop him from going close again next time, though a well-run race is probably going to be key (free-going sort).

GINGER JACK showed he's been handed a fair mark, albeit without finding any improvement for less testing conditions, a bit of surprise bearing in mind his useful Flat form; mid-division, chased leaders after 4 out, shaken up next, kept on, took second flat; either way, this shows he's on a competitive mark, and merit on the level suggests he may yet improve.

RED INCA has dropped a long way in the weights and shaped well in first-time tongue strap after 10 weeks off, looking as though his in-form stable has got him back firing; close up, travelled well, went on before 3 out, mistake next, headed before last, no extra, possibly making effort a bit earlier than ideal; one to be interested in.

CLAUDE CARTER back down in trip, wasn't disgraced but looks too high in weights now; disputed lead until fifth, pushed along 4 out, outpaced home turn, plugged on.

SLIPPER SATIN (IRE) returned to form without warning after just 3 days off but remains a fair bit too high in the weights; disputed lead, mistake third, one paced from 3 out.

SPARVILLE (IRE) fitter for recent run, took step back in right direction without shaping like a handicapper to be interested in; pressed leader, ridden before 3 out, faded after next.

COOL BARANCA (GER) continues out of sorts; dropped out, never involved.

PASSAGE VENDOME (FR) lost the plot for Willie Mullins and offered little starting out in Britain after 5 months off; in rear, blundered fifth, well beaten 4 out.
