who had done well over jumps since joining this yard, came out on top back on the Flat over this 4f longer trip after 6 weeks off and the bare winning margin doesn't really do him justice given he was always going well and met some trouble; mid-field, travelled well, headway 2f out, not clear run over 1f out, stayed on to lead well inside final 1f, driven out; unexposed at trip and will remain of interest.

A fairly useful handicap which was won in better style than the bare margin suggests by one having his first start on the Flat for Philip Kirby and the others in the frame give some substance to the result, too, so the form looks solid, though the pace was only modest.

PASS MUSTER who had done well over jumps since joining this yard, came out on top back on the Flat over this 4f longer trip after 6 weeks off and the bare winning margin doesn't really do him justice given he was always going well and met some trouble; mid-field, travelled well, headway 2f out, not clear run over 1f out, stayed on to lead well inside final 1f, driven out; unexposed at trip and will remain of interest.

BRIGHT ABBEY back on turf, ran well from 3 lb higher mark after 7 weeks off, looks better than ever; led, driven 2f out, headed well inside final 1f, stuck to task, showed a good attitude but also had the run of the race.

HIGH OFFICE back up in trip, ran respectably after 12 days off but hasn't won for a very long time; mid-field, driven over 1f out, one paced.

SIR FRANK MORGAN (IRE) back up in trip, ran creditably after 9 days off and did enough to prove his effectiveness on this surface, but new mark demands more; prominent, driven 2f out, not quicken.

KING OF THE PICTS (IRE) is a useful hurdler and was well backed, but never went with any great fluency on belated return to the Flat over this 2f longer trip; in touch, driven 3f out, one paced.

DR IRV did well last year so starts this campaign on a mark that demands more, but he shaped well after 6 months off; held up, travelled well, good headway out wide 3f out, weakened final 1f; likely to be better for run.

CORTON LAD back on turf, made little impression over this 3f longer trip after 5 months off; held up, never a threat.

CALEDONIA on firmer ground than previously, ran poorly after 10 weeks off; held up, headway after 4f, weakened 2f out.

TWELVE STRINGS (IRE) is at best with cut in the ground and was well held after 5 months off; always behind.
