Only a couple of progressive runners in this field and they might have finished 1-2 had King Alexander negotiated the last, Mullinaree already having the race wrapped up by then having dominated from some way out.

MULLINAREE (IRE) looked as ungainly as ever but is undoubtedly progressive and made light of the move into a better-quality handicap, scoring by a margin greater than those of his 3 previous wins combined and value extra on top; prominent, not fluent second, led soon after fifth, drew clear back straight, not fluent 2 out, in command before last, eased close home.
