benefited no end from a slog back up in trip as he followed up last year's success from a mark just 2 lb higher; raced off the pace, ridden early, outpaced still 3 out, rallied well out wide home turn, led before 2 out, tackled on landing last, kept on gamely, suited by the emphasis on stamina; he'll be vulnerable next time but still give his all.

was able to race from the same mark as last time and, whilst unable to capitalise, ran up to form and also proved his stamina for 3m, the winner just a thorough scrapper; settled mid-field, chased leader approaching 2 out, untidy there, pressed leader on landing last, ran on; he's due to be 5 lb higher in future handicaps.
