HEAD TO THE STARS who won this race last year, revived in time to stage a repeat on his second start after a breathing operation, having fallen to a mark 1 lb lower thanks to a woeful start to the season; held up, shaken up after 5 out, effort when awkward 3 out, pressed leader from last, stayed on to lead dying strides; not sure to be in same form next time.

ROCCO (IRE) ran much better than last time, able to hold his place in these calmer waters another 8 weeks on, though he couldn't seal the deal after doing everything right; pressed leader, led briefly third, led again briefly fourteenth, went on again home turn, kicked on straight, kept on, collared dying strides.

CALIPSO COLLONGES (FR) failed to capitalise on the further drop in grade, though the trip around here away from bad ground was probably as sharp as suits; held up, took closer order 5 out, chased leader straight, not quicken from 2 out.

READY AND ABLE (IRE) is yet to fully fire this season for all his last 2 efforts have been a bit more like it; close up, mistake third, shaken up after 5 out, rallied until 2 out, tied up last.

AS YOU LIKE (IRE) was well held but almost certainly has summer handicaps on his agenda from a falling mark; patiently ridden, shaken up after 5 out, behind when blundered next.

CHAMPAGNE MYSTERY (IRE) might just be going the wrong way for all he's had excuses made (step up to 3m possibly unsuitable here), the bold-jumping zip of his chasing debut rout largely absent since, over a year since he last completed a race in fact; made running, clouted first, headed briefly third, headed again briefly twelfth, headed again before straight, faltered quickly, beaten when unseated rider 3 out.

VALTOR (FR) was in the process of running better than previously this season when departing, though even so a minor role looked the best he could have hoped for had he stood up; in touch, not fluent tenth, twelfth, shaken up 5 out, rallied from 3 out, keeping on in fourth but probably held around 4 lengths down when fell 2 out.

WANDRIN STAR (IRE) has run his best races in recent seasons after a break but performed badly after 10 weeks off; tracked pace, lost ground sixth, never going well from next, beaten quickly early final circuit, tailed off when pulled up fourteenth, possibly amiss.
