hasn't had the rub of the green on several times this year and confirmed he's still getting better as he went one better than last time, a more strongly-run race back in trip bringing out the best in him, as did the assistance of Ryan Moore for the first time; dwelt, held up, progress early in straight, led inside final 1f, just held on; he's already risen a huge chunk in the handicap this winter, but he hasn't necessarily yet reached his limit.

was making his handicap debut and going back up in trip and though he lost his unbeaten record, he emerges with plenty of credit and all his potential intact; slowly into stride, held up, took strong hold, pushed along over 2f out, headway from early in straight, finished well, just failed; this was a useful effort and he will go on improving.

had a similar profile to the runner-up and progressed again himself returning from 4 months off despite meeting defeat for the first time, ultimately still in need of experience against some more battle-hardened types; reared leaving stalls, raced well off the pace, headway early in straight, kept on, nearest at the finish; he is open to further improvement.

wasn't disgraced after 4 months off, probably needing the run, but he'd looked all speed last year and it could prove the case that 5f is his optimum trip; disputed lead, went on over 2f out, headed inside final 1f, weakened.

ran just respectably in a stronger race than last time, the handicapper taking no chances having stuck him up 2 lb for finishing second in a 3-runner race; chased leaders, took strong hold, ridden 2f out, no extra inside final 1f.

A useful handicap and form to view positively with 3 improving types pulling a little way clear, Rohaan getting back to winning ways, but the next 2 home both shaped well too given their relative inexperience.

ROHAAN (IRE) hasn't had the rub of the green on several times this year and confirmed he's still getting better as he went one better than last time, a more strongly-run race back in trip bringing out the best in him, as did the assistance of Ryan Moore for the first time; dwelt, held up, progress early in straight, led inside final 1f, just held on; he's already risen a huge chunk in the handicap this winter, but he hasn't necessarily yet reached his limit.

DILIGENT HARRY was making his handicap debut and going back up in trip and though he lost his unbeaten record, he emerges with plenty of credit and all his potential intact; slowly into stride, held up, took strong hold, pushed along over 2f out, headway from early in straight, finished well, just failed; this was a useful effort and he will go on improving.

POPMASTER (IRE) had a similar profile to the runner-up and progressed again himself returning from 4 months off despite meeting defeat for the first time, ultimately still in need of experience against some more battle-hardened types; reared leaving stalls, raced well off the pace, headway early in straight, kept on, nearest at the finish; he is open to further improvement.

BEDFORD FLYER (IRE) wasn't disgraced after 4 months off, probably needing the run, but he'd looked all speed last year and it could prove the case that 5f is his optimum trip; disputed lead, went on over 2f out, headed inside final 1f, weakened.

CHARLIE FELLOWES (IRE) ran just respectably in a stronger race than last time, the handicapper taking no chances having stuck him up 2 lb for finishing second in a 3-runner race; chased leaders, took strong hold, ridden 2f out, no extra inside final 1f.

SIGNIFICANTLY was below form after 5 months off, not seen to best effect out wide, but his 2-y-o form showed that he's not one to make excuses for; close up, ridden soon after halfway, no extra inside final 1f.

A PINT OF BEAR (IRE) again ran below form; mid-field, struggling from halfway, weakened inside final 1f.

SECRET HANDSHEIKH has improved at Southwell, his most recent win particularly hard to knock but he wasn't in the same form back on polytrack; disputed lead, ridden around halfway, headed over 2f out, hung left, weakened.
