proved better than ever after 9 weeks off, this sort of mark holding him back on turf last year, but he's clearly a better horse on all-weather (no surprise given his pedigree); broke well, went with zest in lead, kicked on over 2f out, in command entering final 1f, driven out; on this evidence he's well worth another go in a listed race on an artificial surface.

ran at least as well in defeat as when winning the time before; mid-field, outpaced 3f out, good headway 1f out, kept going well, no impression on winner.

ran creditably with a good-value claimer negating his rise in the weights but did hint at some of the temperament he'd shown in his earlier days; tracked pace, ridden over 2f out, hung badly left over 1f out, one paced.

down in grade after 10 weeks off, shaped as if back in top form, having no room to open up in the straight, his effort just flattening out late over a trip that probably stretches him; mid-field, travelled well, going well when denied a run over 1f out, switched entering final 1f, short of room again close home, effort flattened out; his last 2 starts in all-weather handicaps suggest that he's on a good mark when things fall right (will be suited by a return to 6f).

shaped better than last time in first-time cheekpieces after 6 weeks off, this not set up for closers, but he clearly needs everything to fall right; held up, switched inside early in straight, made no impression.

The sectional times confirm the visual impression that Highland Dress had the run of this, but he was in command a fair way out and is still worth crediting with a chunk of improvement, beating a last-time-out winner into second.

HIGHLAND DRESS proved better than ever after 9 weeks off, this sort of mark holding him back on turf last year, but he's clearly a better horse on all-weather (no surprise given his pedigree); broke well, went with zest in lead, kicked on over 2f out, in command entering final 1f, driven out; on this evidence he's well worth another go in a listed race on an artificial surface.

REVOLUTIONISE (IRE) ran at least as well in defeat as when winning the time before; mid-field, outpaced 3f out, good headway 1f out, kept going well, no impression on winner.

GHAITH ran creditably with a good-value claimer negating his rise in the weights but did hint at some of the temperament he'd shown in his earlier days; tracked pace, ridden over 2f out, hung badly left over 1f out, one paced.

TINTO down in grade after 10 weeks off, shaped as if back in top form, having no room to open up in the straight, his effort just flattening out late over a trip that probably stretches him; mid-field, travelled well, going well when denied a run over 1f out, switched entering final 1f, short of room again close home, effort flattened out; his last 2 starts in all-weather handicaps suggest that he's on a good mark when things fall right (will be suited by a return to 6f).

GULLIVER back up in trip, failed to build on the promise of last run; in touch, ridden 2f out, edged left, weakened final 1f; his best recent efforts have come over 6f.

SIR MAXIMILIAN (IRE) ran below form even considering his position; raced off the pace, pushed along over 2f out, left behind over 1f out.

TADLEEL failed to come on for recent run, more to it than his position alone; in rear, outpaced 3f out, merely closed up late.
