posted best effort for years as he followed up from last time, confirming himself still capable of smart form despite his advancing years as he made it 5 wins for the year; dwelt, mid-division, shaken up 2f out, edged left final 1f, quickened to lead final 100 yds, had bit in hand; going through a purple patch at present and will continue to give a good account.

back in handicap company for first time since winning off 2 lb higher mark at Newbury in April, ran to a similar level to last time, but didn't go with quite the same promise; chased leaders, shaken up 2f out, weakening when crossed by winner final 100 yds, had every chance.

wasn't in quite the same form as for last couple of starts, albeit not helped by again racing at a level slightly above his pay grade; mid-field, headway on inner early in straight, every chance 1f out, one paced.
