back in headgear (first-time cheekpieces) and over the C&D of previous standout effort, excelled himself, putting up a decidedly smart performance to dominate this field; forced pace, travelled powerfully, edged right straight, kept on well, had bit in hand; should be up to holding his own in a higher grade.

was on the same mark as last time and confirmed the improvement shown that day, going though a good spell; mid-field, effort 2f out, stayed on; may have missed chance of adding to his tally in the short term though, likely to edge back up the weights for recent upturn.

found run of good form coming to an end, taken out of his comfort zone in this higher grade (1 lb out of the weights); mid-field, uncomfortable with pace, stayed on from 2f out without landing a blow; versatile with regards surface and likely to be back to form sooner rather than later when returned to calmer waters.

back under a fully-fledged rider, fared little better than last time and just doesn't seem in the same sort of form as when winning at Nottingham in October (when with a different yard); chased leader, shaken up home turn, no extra final 1f; now has a bit to prove.

looked rusty after 8 weeks off, that compounded by a drop back to the minimum trip; slowly into stride, in rear, badly outpaced, stayed on straight, never nearer; likely to be back on song with this under his belt and is still on a workable mark.

back in a better class of handicap after 7 weeks off and duly struggled, albeit having been put on the back foot early doors; short of room soon after start, in rear, uncomfortable with pace, never a threat; will be suited by a return to fibresand too, most of his wins gained on that surface.
