made it 2 from 2 over hurdles in deeply impressive fashion, readily accounting for some very promising sorts over a trip likely to prove short of his optimum; tracked pace, jumped well in main, loomed up after last, went on entering straight, forged clear, hands-and-heels ride; an imposing individual, he is open to further improvement and will be the one to beat wherever he turns up next.

a slightly fortunate winner of a Clonmel maiden on his hurdling bow, showed much improved form upped markedly in grade, albeit without laying a glove on the easy winner; mid-division, driven entering straight, headway before last, stayed on, no match for winner; sure to progress and win more races.

lost unbeaten record but took his form up another notch; mid-division, not always fluent, driven entering straight, stayed on to take third late on, never nearer; will prove suited by 2½m and is open to further improvement with that in mind.

whose Royal Bond form took a few knocks on this card, shaped better than the distance beaten suggests, arguably second best on the day, but was well and truly put in his place by the winner; tracked pace, every chance last, driven entering straight, no extra and lost 2 places final 1f.

took a step forward from hurdling debut and the experience gained here is sure to stand him in good stead; held up, took closer order before 2 out, keeping on when not fluent last, not unduly punished; will go on improving.

failed to build on a promising hurdling debut, the drop back to 2m not obviously to blame; made running, not fluent third, still in front when hit last, headed early in straight, faded.

A cracking and truly-run renewal of what is always an informative Grade 1 - the 9 runners having already accumulated 14 wins over hurdles between them and the first 6 home all arriving unbeaten over timber - and it was won with rare authority by Appreciate It who looks one out of the very top drawer.
