had been upped 3 lb for his Beverley win but remained well treated on old form and followed up in determined fashion kept to this sort of trip; disputed lead, ridden and a touch outpaced over 2f out, rallied to lead over 1f out, kept on well final 1f until eased close home; all ground comes alike to him.

was backed to suggest he'd be fit enough on the back of 4 months off but his effort was all too familiar despite the return to testing ground looking likely to be in his favour; in rear, typically travelled well, ridden over 1f out, merely plugged on; there's a good chance he'll still make a mockery of this sort of mark in a race that goes his way one day, but he's not one for maximum faith.
