in first-time hood and gelded since last seen 9 weeks earlier, was back up in trip and proved a different proposition to previously to rout this field; dictated, shaken up around 2f out, edged left final 1f but drew clear, won easily; this was a big jump forward but it's worth taking at face value for now, a well-bred type with a top yard who had several potential catalysts behind his improvement, whilst this was just his second start in handicap company, too.

after 6 weeks off, shaped as if back in form; slowly into stride, in rear, not settle fully, headway over 1f out, kept on, left poorly placed; he's endured a frustrating season, often not getting the rub of the green, but is now below his last winning mark and it's worth noting he won his sole start on all-weather.

ran creditably after 4 months off, seemingly having no problem with the trip this time, just in need of some respite from the assessor; close up, ridden around 2f out, not quicken.

was again too free and his headstrong nature has held him back after such a promising start to his career; raced off the pace, pulled hard, ridden over 2f out, laboured headway soon after, one paced; he's seemingly not one for maximum faith but is worth another try in a hood and/or on all-weather.

unproven at the trip, wasn't seen to best effect; mid-field, raced freely, headway under 2f out, every chance over 1f out, hung right final 1f and faded, found the test too much.

back up in trip, shaped similarly to last time and may still be building up her fitness after a mid-summer break; mid-field, progress under 3f out, edged right around 1f out, weakened; she's got the run style and pedigree to take well to all-weather if connections opt to keep her on the go this winter.

The winner enjoyed the run of the race from the front in this handicap but was still impressive and even a low view of the form - which has all his rivals underperforming to some extent - suggests he's worth crediting with a smart effort.

AUDIENCE in first-time hood and gelded since last seen 9 weeks earlier, was back up in trip and proved a different proposition to previously to rout this field; dictated, shaken up around 2f out, edged left final 1f but drew clear, won easily; this was a big jump forward but it's worth taking at face value for now, a well-bred type with a top yard who had several potential catalysts behind his improvement, whilst this was just his second start in handicap company, too.
