A couple departed in rather unfortunate circumstances at the first and Looks Like Murt was seemingly just about to assume control when unseating 3 out, leaving The Hollow Ginge to gain a rather hollow success over the only other finisher.

THE HOLLOW GINGE (IRE) seemingly wasted no time getting back to form, though his task was made considerably easier by 3 failing to complete and it looked as though his measure was about to be taken when Looks Like Murt got rid of his rider at the third last, almost certainly fortunate; left in front first, made rest, shaken up approaching straight, joined when left clear again 3 out, driven out.

LATE ROMANTIC (IRE) seemed to find this barely enough of a test dropping back 3f in trip, better judged on other efforts this season (nothing at all wrong with Haydock form in December); awkward first, chased leader, pushed along before 5 out, left second 3 out, kept on, no impression on winner.

PISTOL WHIPPED (IRE) was a short price to defy a 6 lb rise for his win here the previous month (form hasn't worked out) but didn't get a chance to show what he could do, probably distracted by Late Romantic slowing in front of him at the first and coming down.

LOOKS LIKE MURT (IRE) failed to complete for the second outing in succession, but it was hardly his fault on this occasion and the strong likelihood is that he'd have won had his rider not come off in soft fashion at the third last, just about to assume command at the time; in touch, travelled smoothly, upsides and yet to be asked for effort when unseated rider 3 out; he still hasn't shown all he can as a chaser and will probably be left on the same mark after this.

MR CAFFREY was hampered by Looks Like Murt jumping across him at the first and unseated.
