only fair in a handful of runs over hurdles, proved vastly better for a switch to chasing after 6 weeks off, looking a total natural and potentially useful; tracked pace, took keen hold and jumped superbly, led approaching ninth, tackled 3 out and 2 out, found plenty to surge right away on run-in; sure to progress, he's capable of winning plenty more.

switched straight to chasing for his handicap debut, immediately improved on his hurdles form on his first outing since leaving Donald McCain after 8 months off, unlucky to bump into one so far ahead of his mark; handy, jumped soundly in main, challenged crossing 3 out and 2 out but held after last, still well clear of the remainder; sure to progress, and will be of interest again.

shaped really well sent chasing until lack of fitness seemed to tell after 7 months off, every bit the type to prove better in this sphere than over hurdles; dropped out, smooth headway back straight, shaken up entering straight, no further impression as absence told but held third; has scope for plenty of improvement, and will be worth backing next time.

well backed, ended up faring better than previously in this sphere, despite making a bad mistake; pressed leader, clouted seventh, outpaced 4 out, plugged on again latter stages; may do better still judged on hurdles form, but his yard's struggles remain a concern (no Dickin-trained jumps winner since March).

whose Chepstow form has proved strong, shaped better than the bare result 5 weeks on, possibly not so well suited by the longer trip as expected, though he didn't look a stout finisher back in his bumper days; waited with, good progress out wide tenth, close up when blundered 4 out, third home turn, weakened straight.

a fair but frustrating maiden over hurdles (in cheekpieces last 2 starts), ultimately shaped as if better for the run sent chasing after 8 months off, notwithstanding his history of flattering to deceive; patiently ridden, travelled better than most, off pace still end of back straight (not ideally placed as the race was taking shape), some headway 3 out, not sustain effort; capable of better for all he isn't one to go overboard about.

It's questionable how many behind showed something like their form but the first 2 must be some way ahead of the handicapper to pull as far clear as they did, that duo plus the third looking surefire improvers, only one of them at single-figure odds but certainly the best prospects.

BEKKENSFIRTH only fair in a handful of runs over hurdles, proved vastly better for a switch to chasing after 6 weeks off, looking a total natural and potentially useful; tracked pace, took keen hold and jumped superbly, led approaching ninth, tackled 3 out and 2 out, found plenty to surge right away on run-in; sure to progress, he's capable of winning plenty more.
