thwarted his similarly high-class stablemate as he followed up his Fairyhouse Grade 2 win in a race that could easily have been of that standard itself, the pair coming clear of the second-season chaser back in third; tracked pace, pressed leader from 2 out, edged ahead soon after last, in command close home; his merit is well established now but it didn't prevent him going very close tried in handicap company in last year's Galway Plate.

couldn't see off his bigger-priced stable-companion (rare example this spring of Townend picking the wrong option) but still ran at least as well in defeat as when winning the time before in all likelihood, Easy Game a good deal better than any rival Melon had beaten for his 2 recent wins; soon led, jumped well, went with zest, quickened gradually back straight, reduced advantage when ridden from 2 out, headed soon after last, no extra only near finish.

failed to meet expectations, though she was ridden in contrast to normal despite having done so well forcing the pace last season; waited with, shaken up end of back straight, effort when blundered 2 out, kept on, no match for principals.

wasted no time getting back on track, shaping well considering the stiffness of her task, ridden in stark contrast to usual in keeping with it; dropped out, crept closer straight, shaken up after blundered 2 out, no further impression; she'll be worth backing returned to a handicap next time.
