turned out again quickly, resumed winning ways and though he has his quirks, he's got a good strike-rate this year and his form is on an upward curve, having a bit more to spare than the bare margin suggests having typically done little once hitting the front; slowly into stride, held up, smooth headway on inner over 2f out, led 1f out, idled, driven out; will remain of interest at this sort of level.

Like the first division, this was a well-run handicap but the time was quicker and the form overall looks a bit stronger, Manton Road winning with greater authority than the bare margin suggests.

MANTON ROAD turned out again quickly, resumed winning ways and though he has his quirks, he's got a good strike-rate this year and his form is on an upward curve, having a bit more to spare than the bare margin suggests having typically done little once hitting the front; slowly into stride, held up, smooth headway on inner over 2f out, led 1f out, idled, driven out; will remain of interest at this sort of level.

RUMBA BAY ran at least as well in defeat as when winning the time before, up 4 lb and up against a couple with positive profiles themselves; raced well off the pace, headway on inner over 2f out, stayed on.

BALLARAT BERTIE ran creditably despite seeming unsuited by the drop in trip; prominent, pushed along early in straight, outpaced over 1f out, plugged on; will benefit from return to 1m+.
