who won this race from 7 lb lower mark last year, shaped well without usual headgear on first outing since leaving Andrew Balding after 5 months off, the lack of pace meaning he was never well positioned and he does seem a more solid proposition on all-weather; held up, raced freely, headway out wide final 1f, kept on, not unduly punished, nearest at the finish, left poorly placed; likely to be better for the run.

All 10 ran.

A useful sprint handicap but the pace was on the steady side and the order didn't change a great deal, the field finishing well bunched, so those held up are best not judged too harshly.

GOLDEN MIND (IRE) produced a career best to end long losing run in first-time tongue strap, though enjoyed tactical advantages back down in trip; led, pushed along 2f out, joined over 1f out, kept on, had the run of the race.

HEATHCLIFF got a clearer run and ran well to go close, though the modest pace wasn't much use to one that stays further, sticking on but unable to get past one that had the run of things; in touch, ridden over 1f out, kept on; sure to go well again.

TIGER CRUSADE (FR) ran creditably in a better race than he need contest, doing well under the circumstances; dwelt, mid-field, headway under pressure 1f out, kept on, needs the emphasis more on stamina.

ARAMIS GREY (IRE) didn't get much respite from the handicapper due to her consistency when with Rae Guest and continued in the same vein starting out for a new yard after 8 weeks off; mid-field, headway final 1f, kept on, not knocked about.

KING'S LYNN ran creditably, having every chance; prominent, ridden over 1f out, weakened final 1f, well positioned.

FIVETHOUSANDTOONE (IRE) who won this race from 7 lb lower mark last year, shaped well without usual headgear on first outing since leaving Andrew Balding after 5 months off, the lack of pace meaning he was never well positioned and he does seem a more solid proposition on all-weather; held up, raced freely, headway out wide final 1f, kept on, not unduly punished, nearest at the finish, left poorly placed; likely to be better for the run.
