An interesting 3-y-o handicap, plenty of these still unexposed, none more so than the winner given he was getting in here on the back of just 2 starts and confirming that the handicapper's initial assessment was a lenient one, comfortably on top late on.

TROUBLE MAN (IRE) back up in trip, looked on a good mark for his handicap debut after just 2 starts and followed up from last time, clearly going the right way even if he isn't yet the finished article; mid-field, ran green, good headway 2f out, challenged inside final 1f, led final 50 yds, well on top finish; will go on improving and should have no trouble winning more races.

ARDENNES (IRE) ran well on form to hold off all bar an unexposed one, and while he's clearly effective at this trip, this is by no means the first time he's given the impression that dropping back to 5f would be in his favour; bumped start, soon led, went with zest, shaken up under 2f out, headed final 100 yds, kept on; he's not long with this stable and remains the type to win handicaps.

SERGIO PARISSE was easier to back this time, but still produced best effort to date, possibly helped by the application of a tongue strap for the first time (second start since a breathing operation), but he still hardly hit the line strong and it's possible something is holding him back; in touch, driven over 2f out, chased leader entering final 1f, weakened late on.

HORUS was well backed and though he couldn't improve any further, it's hardly a backward step, in a fair bit deeper than last time; mid-field, pushed along over 2f out, ran on.

ROCK N ROLL ROCKET (IRE) was backed at long odds and ran one of his better races; slowly into stride, held up, headway on inner early in straight, kept on; he needs to back this up, lack of consistency an issue throughout his career to date.

OAKLEY BOY looked a little more exposed than most, this his ninth outing in handicap company but he remains in good form, things getting a bit tight for him as he closed up; held up, headway over 2f out, short of room inside final 1f, one paced.

DREAM VOYAGE was a shade free and isn't progressing at present; prominent, took strong hold, ridden over 2f out, edged left, not quicken.

DISTANT RUMBLE wasn't in the same form as when winning over C&D last time, that having come in a lower grade; chased leader, outpaced over 2f out, edged left, merely plugged on.

CAMERA SHY (IRE) was easy to back making handicap debut after 12 weeks off but is better judged on previous form given his draw/trip; raced wide, held up, pushed along over 2f out, made no impression.

CHARMOULA (IRE) had been disappointing on his all-weather debut when last seen 11 weeks ago and ran poorly switched to a handicap; mid-field, pushed along over 2f out, weakened over 1f out; will have something to prove when next seen.

EM FOUR easy to back, ran poorly with all seemingly not well; slowly into stride, raced well off the pace, took strong hold, hung badly left home turn, pushed along over 2f out, no response.

CRACKING MAN (IRE) fared little better in first-time visor after 10 weeks off, though he was done no favours by the one that finished directly in front of him; dived right leaving stalls, raced off the pace, carried left home turn, made no impression.
